A more personal triumph is that of Martin Moran, who's
telling his story of growing up gay, Catholic and sexually abused in
The Tricky Part, an intensely moving and beautifully performed
memoir/play that's as cathartic as it is entertaining. Moran, who starred
in such Broadway musicals as A Man of No Importance, Bells Are Ringing,
Cabaret and Titanic, mesmerizes as a storyteller with a boyish
grin and easygoing demeanor. He slowly unfolds a story of horry, compassion,
confrontation and hope with skill, humor and enormous courage. In short,
Moran is amazing and The Tricky Part is the most powerful play
this season.
